Amber Thompson
Amber Thompson is a sustainability professional dedicated to helping communities navigate and adapt to the challenges of a changing climate. She earned her BAS in Sustainable Science Management from the University of Hawaii Maui College. As the Director of the Hulihia Center for Sustainable Systems, she led community-driven initiatives that advanced resilience and equity, developed engaging educational programs for youth, and built strategic partnerships to strengthen community impact.
As a researcher, writer, and advocate, Amber seeks to uncover new insights into adaptation and share them in ways that inspire and educate.

Amber’s journey in sustainability began with hands-on work—leading children’s beach cleanups, teaching about circular economy principles, and fostering environmental stewardship. She has also worked in native forest restoration, sustainability marketing, and conducted B Corp certification assessments to help businesses align with environmental and social responsibility standards.
